2025 Summer Art Classes & Camps

Classes and Camps for Age 5-6 | Age 7-12 | Age 13-17

BAM offers a selection of classes all summer to keep children and students connected and their creative juices flowing! Every August, the Museum’s Children Exhibit displays artwork created by participants. Join us for an opening reception for the exhibition the first Saturday in August. Everyone is welcome!

Advance registration is required, and space is limited. Registrations are processed in the order they are received on a first-come, first-served basis. If a class if full you can request to be placed on the waiting list.

Applications are accepted in person and cash only.


One Week Camps

 

Each week features a guest artist who has created special projects for BAM students in a variety of mediums.

Ages 5-6: 9 - 11 AM
Age 7-12: 1 - 3 PM

  • June 9 - 13: Capturing the Landscape
    Explore the beauty of watercolor landscapes! Students will learn techniques like color blending, layering, and brushwork to create skies, mountains, and nature scenes. Through daily projects, they’ll gain confidence in their artistic skills while expressing their creativity! Led by Kelly Best Bourgeois

  • July 14 - 18: Global Art Summer
    Embark on a creative journey exploring art from around the world! Each day, students will discover a new culture through hands-on projects inspired by traditional and contemporary global art techniques. This immersive week-long class fosters creativity, cultural appreciation, and a love for artistic expression! Led by Cindy Lopez

There is a $5 registration fee per student per session; advance registration required; space is limited. Applications are accepted in person and cash only.


One & Two Day Workshops

 

Workshops allow children to explore their creative side and work with a specific artistic medium.

Age 5-6: 9 - 11 AM

  • Wednesday, June 4: Layers of Expression: Paper Relief Portraits
    Learn step by step how to create a layered, 3D portrait! Use cut and layered paper, explore depth, facial features, and basic sculpting techniques. Led by Diana Martinez

  • Tuesday, June 17: Houston, We Have an ART Problem
    Make astronaut helmets using paper, foam, foil, and other materials, along with a NASA nametag and create mini glowing planets! Get ready for a fun space adventure! Led by Marcie Martinez

  • June 24 - 25: Coil Butterflies
    Make colorful butterflies out of clay by rolling and shaping coils for the wings and body. Paint your creation while building creativity and fine motor skills. Led by Tonya Hunter

  • Wednesday, July 2: Creative Freedom: 4th of July Art
    Create a fun painted 4th of July t-shirt and collage star streamer to celebrate red, white, and blue this summer! Led by Diana Martinez

  • Wednesday, July 9: Crafts for Dreamers
    Make bedtime special! A cozy pillow out of fleece and polyfil and nightlight out of tissue and wax paper. For extra fun, kids can wear their pajamas to class! Led by Marcie Martinez

  • July 22 - 23: Printmaking
    Discover the exciting world of printmaking by creating unique prints. Students will experiment with foam prints, gel prints and mono-prints! Led by David Vickers

Age 7-12: 1 - 3 PM

  • Wednesday, June 4: Layers of Expression: Mixed Media Self Portrait
    Using paint, paper, photos, and other medias, explore the different techniques and styles of a self-portrait. Led by Diana Martinez

  • Tuesday, June 17: Houston, We Have an ART Problem
    Make yarn constellations and colorful mini glowing planets using yarn, needles, paint, Ping-Pong balls and creativity. Get ready to explore the galaxy! Led by Marcie Martinez

  • June 24 - 25: Tic Tac Toe
    Design, shape, and decorate your very own tic tac tie board and pieces while learning basic clay techniques. Once finished, take home the handmade game to enjoy with family and friends. Led by Tonya Hunter

Teen Art Workshops

 

Summer Workshops are taught by our guest artists and are specifically designed for teens.

Age 13-17: 4 - 6 PM

  • Wednesday, July 16: Book Sculptures with Cindy Lopez
    Student’s will use book pages, paint, and imagination to make creative 3-D hanging sculptures! Led by Cindy Lopez

Adult Classes (18+)

 

BAM provides a variety of classes throughout the year led by local and regional artists. Classes are available for all levels and have included jewelry making, pottery, calligraphy, print making and drawing. Material fees may apply. Check our calendar for upcoming classes.
