BISD Students & Educators

BAM and the Joe Barnhart Foundation have been working together for more than 20 years to bring amazing experiences to BISD students and teachers including FREE tours and classes for all students. In addition, the Foundation partners with Writers in the Schools to bring creative writing workshops to all students and assists in purchasing art materials for teachers in all school levels. Specific program elements include:

  • Museum visit plus artist workshop in the classroom focused on self-portraits to celebrate differences and build positive self-esteem.

Elementary (Grades 1-5)

  • Museum visit of exhibition currently on display and hands-on art activity.

  • Teachers can access Learning through Art Kits to provide an in-classroom experience featuring curriculum and supplies from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
