What ages are welcome at the museum?

We encourage visitors of all ages to visit and have a variety of activities specifically designed for toddlers – teens. Check out our upcoming events now.

Am I allowed to take pictures on my cell phone or camera in the galleries?

Yes, visitors are welcome to take informal, flash-free photos for personal use in all galleries unless otherwise noted. Please refrain from using flash photography, as it can damage the art. If you would like to arrange for a formal photography, please contact us directly to make arrangements.

How are you able to offer FREE admission?

The museum is grateful to The Joe Barnhart Foundation for funding 100% of our operations. As a result we are able to offer free admission and a variety of free and low cost programs to all who visit.

Are school groups welcome at the Museum?

Absolutely! BAM is primarily an educational institution dedicated to providing a variety of programs and activities that stimulate the imaginations of young people. We have a robust student field trip program for school groups. LEARN MORE

How do you select your exhibits?

The museum typically plans its exhibitions 24 months in advance. We work with a variety of artists throughout the state to display a diverse range of work and mediums. We encourage local artist to consider participating in our annual Texas Artists Exhibition every August.

Is the museum available to rent for events? 

The museum has a small meeting space available to non-profit groups and community service organizations at no charge. To inquire about availability please contact Corlie@BAMTexas.org.

Is Joe Barnhart Park available for events?

The park surrounding the museum is for public use and available for small wedding and events. To inquire about availability, please contact Corlie@BAMTexas.org.

Do you all do appraisals?

Unfortunately, the museum does not do appraisals. We recommend contacting Fine Arts Appraisal Services.

Do you accept donations from personal collections?

While we appreciate the generosity of thought, the museum does not accept donations from personal collections.
