ABSOLUTELY ABSTRACT FEATURES WORKS BY HOUSTON ARTISTS BOBBYE BENNETT & CAROL FLEMING September 19 – December 31, 2009
HOUSTON, TEXAS (August 31, 2009)—The Beeville Art Museum will host an exhibition of abstract works by award-winning Houston artists, Bobbye Bennett and Carol Fleming, opening on Saturday, September 19, 2009, and on view through the end of the year. Bennett and Fleming, longtime friends and colleagues, express a similar sense of wonder through their paintings, as well as acute recollections of memories past. Their elegant, organic paintings—full of delicate shapes and images--reflect a mutual fascination with the natural world.
Bobbye Bennett’s works have been widely featured in selected exhibitions across the state, including: the Galveston Art Center in Galveston, Texas; Art Museum of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Texas, the Art Center of Waco, Waco, Texas, the Glassell School of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, The Lawndale Art Center in Houston, Texas, and The Art League of Houston. In addition, Bennett’s works have been included in two exhibitions in Singapore and in several public collections.
Carol Fleming’s work has been selected for exhibition in national and international juried exhibitions including: the Watercolor Society International Exhibition, Society of Watercolor Artists National Exhibition, Montana’s Watermedia, and Arizona’s Aqueous Exhibition. In Texas, her work was selected for exhibition in juried shows at the Art League of Houston, Assistance League of Houston, Visual Arts Alliance, Live Oak Art Center, Watercolor Art Society of Houston, and Art in City Hall. Additionally, she was a finalist for the annual Hunting Art Prize.
